I'm a hands-on learner and I apply the same principles when choosing vendors. I read reviews and appreciate modern communication like text or email, but I also want to be treated as a thoughtful partner—not assumed to know everything, nor spoken down to. I evaluate vendors on responsiveness, transparency, quality, and fair pricing.
My process is simple: research and shortlist, have a brief interview or demo, and start with a small trial or pilot before committing. I expect clear timelines, timely replies (usually within 24–48 hours), and honest communication. Red flags include missed deadlines, evasive answers, or poor documentation (i.e. no written quote). Ultimately I hire vendors who are reliable, proactive problem-solvers and who treat the relationship as a two-way collaboration.
These are people or businesses that I have hired more than once.
